Leadership: Mr. Craig Pridemore is a two-term Washington state Senator and has compiled an impressive record on environmental and ocean issues. He has led on and passed measures to:

• Establish and include a framework for marine spatial planning in the planning activities of all state agencies with marine management responsibilities

• Address climate change by sponsoring and passing legislation that sets quantifiable greenhouse gas reductions and establishes proper accountability for meeting them.

• Obtain legislative funding for the Puget Sound Partnership to assess and improve Washington's oil spill protection and recovery programs.

• Improve coastal and lake water quality by reducing phosphorus in lawn fertilizers and by reducing petroleum pollution in stormwater.

• Create recycling programs for mercury-containing fluorescent light bulbs as well as for e-waste that has lead and cadmium, such as televisions and computers.
  

Senator Pridemore will take this energy and commitment to the U.S. Congress, saying, "I'm excited about working with Ocean Champions and taking on ocean issues at the national level." His priorities include Marine Spatial Planning, addressing offshore oil drilling, and ocean dumping.
